Today you're going to take a short test to figure out if your level in English is right for this course. Then you'll describe how important different tasks in this lesson are to you and share some information about yourself in the discussion forum. Okay, so what does networking mean? Networking means to interact with other people who can help you in your career. You exchange information and get to know more and more people. These people can connect you with other people. The idea is that you may find a job or do better in your current job because you met these new people.

In the first week, you'll practice introducing yourself and learn some new vocabulary to talk about what you do in your job. In week two, you'll study vocabulary to describe your company or any company. You don't have to be working right now to take this course. In week three, we will introduce you to writing professional emails. Week four is all about telephoning and making arrangements to meet. Then in week five, we return to email to talk about arrangements, make changes and updates. This last week includes some practice with texting too. So let's get started.

First is a short proficiency test. This will determine if this is the right course for you. If your score is above 80%, this course is good for you. If your score is below that, it may be more challenging. Now let's think about your needs. Why do you need business communication skills? Which of these activities are important for you to do in English? Write five for very important? Write one for not important. Now go to the discussion forum. Tell us your name and where you're from.
