So you've heard some professionals talk about store location. In the next part of our lesson we'll work on creating a proposal to recommend a store location. Let's move on to writing our own proposal. Earlier in the course you saw how Rainier chocolates decided on a location for their new store. Now it's your turn to develop a proposal for the company to open another new store. To start you're going to listen to a meeting where the team have just brainstormed ideas for some possible new locations and are now evaluating the ideas and narrowing them down. As you listen, answer these questions. You should write notes about what they decided. Use these questions to help you listen for the important details.

Any other ideas? No? Okay then let's try to narrow this down. This is what I want you to do. Choose your top three locations, write each one down on one of these cards. Then I want you to write down the reason why you made your choice. This should help with our discussion. That's why I think South Lake Union would be a really good choice. The area is in a huge growth period. Yeah, you're right. There are new stores opening every day. I see what you mean. Let's go with South Lake Union instead of North Lake Union. Okay, so to recap, here are top three choices. Green Lake, Columbia City and South Lake Union. We decided that we want our stores into neighborhoods and not only into shopping malls.

Great. I'm going to ask your main to do a little more research on these three areas. Hold on a second. Have we ever considered the airport? I mean... The airport? That's not a bad idea. Yeah, I mean we could just ask your main to do some research. Couldn't hurt. Okay, I don't see why not. Although it's not a neighborhood good. Alright, before we all go, I just want to mention that Tom has come up with an idea. For whatever final location is chosen, he would like our chocolates to have a special design that is connected with that area. He wants chocolates to reflect the location. What do you mean by that exactly? For example, chocolates in the shape of a fish at Pike Place Market. Oh, I say that's interesting. So think about this idea and we'll discuss it at our next meeting.

That's check that you got all the answers. You should have heard that they narrowed it down to three neighborhood locations. Those locations are Green Lake, South Lake Union and Columbia City. Next, the additional location was the airport. Finally, the idea that they will need to think about for the next meeting is a special design for the chocolates that is connected with the location. Great. Next you will read about these locations and add some information to your notes. Then you will use this information to write a proposal.
